E-CLIP (Electronic Commerce Legal Issues Platform) is a European research
project on legal issues of electronic commerce. It is a two years project,
fully funded by the European Commission as part of the ESPRIT programme.
The project commences at the beginning of 1998.

Four European research institutes are cooperating, which are highly
specialized in the field of information and computer law and which share
the research work. Each partner institute will concentrate its work on a
specific domain of law effected by electronic commerce. It also represents
serveral European countries and will support other partners, when they need
information on the legal situation in these countries.

Additionally to the research the partners also aim at giving legal
assistance to other EC-funded projects developing new technologies and
services in the field of Electronic Commerce. In these technology or
economy focused projects legal aspects are often neglected if not ignored.

By means of publications and workshops the scientific debate shall be
enriched and a general awareness for legal issues of electronic commerce be
promoted.
