The European Commission, DGXV, is organising a copyright conference on
12-14 July 1998 in Vienna. A programme and further information will be
available in mid-April. The conference will not deal with the new
Copyright Directive but will look at the other issues that were
identified in the Follow-Up to the Green Paper as those that require
further evaluation: broadcasting right, applicable law and law
enforcement, management of rights and moral rights. The European
Commission aims at determining which areas would need further EU
harmonisation and to what degree. We will keep you informed.
