Ari Lampinen

Ari at a rainforest expedition in Australia in 1988 and at solar energy technology dissemination field work in Nepal in 1994.

I am physicist and engineer trained in Finland (Jyväskylä), Denmark (Riso) and USA (San Francisco) working as environmental physicist at Department of Biological and Environmental Sciences of University of Jyväskylä. My chores are in the fields of climate change, renewable energy, energy conservation and sustainable development. I am author or co-author of over 100 articles, including 17 peer reviewed articles in international scientific journals. My work has included, in addition to environmental themes, nuclear physics and computer engineering. I am active participant of the work of scientific and environmental governmental and non-governmental organizations related to environmental issues, including taking part in international environmental negotiations, national committees and development co-operation.

My main hobbies are or have been scientific, environmental and development NGO work, long distance running (10k in 30m), several ball games (also as a referee), aquarium fish breeding, 19th century Finnish post cards, culture/nature travelling (18 backbacking low-budget expedition trips of at least 1 month duration in 80+ countries) and reading.
