The Là-bas... art project was founded by Lauri Luhta in summer of 2000 to serve as an open alternative forum for all kinds of experimental artists in the city of Helsinki. Established at the studio of Irma Optimist at Cable Factory, Là-bas... strived from the beginning to provide an artistic laboratory space, outside the outdated limits of gallery/museum institution, where anyone could realise and test new ideas for performance, audio or video art, in the context of its monthly occurring manifestations, and where the useless boundaries between those vivid art forms of today could be easily crossed and perhaps joyfully demolished alltogether.

During the massive Exit performance festival (in February/March 2001), which also took place at Cable Factory, Là-bas... acted as a festival club of sorts, a duty which it will resume again within the Amorph!01 festival at Kulttuuriareena Gloria. This web site is also provided by Là-bas..., and will continued to be maintained also after the festival has finished, with new additions.
