Protest against
the scandalous plans of the Estonian government and parliament
The Central Council of the Communist Workers' Party of Finland condemns the actions,
which are planned by the Estonian parliament to destroy the monument of the liberators of
Tallinn and in desecrating the grave of the Soviet soldiers. We
also condemn the decision made by the bourgeois parliament by forbidding the Hammer and
Sickle symbols of the International Communist Workers' Movement and including all the
symbols of victory over fascism. The hysteria, which has come into existence in Eastern
Europe and is directed against the working class and which includes the perversion of
history by destroying monuments, is all directly linked with fascism. Historical facts do
not disappear by perversion! The truth remains, that the Socialist Soviet Union saved also
the Estonian people from the German fascist tyranny and gave the Estonian people their
freedom. Hitler and SS-chief Himmler had even planned to transfer the Estonian people
beyond the lake of Peipsi and make them their slaves and thus to Germanize by force the
occupied territory.
In Estonia during the latest 15 years monuments have been erected for executioners of the
Estonian people, for SS-groups and for government members of the bourgeois dictatorship
period and even for the members of the White Guard. These actions were quite a blow
against the working class of Estonia and elsewhere, including also the insults on the
soldiers and resistance fighters for freedom against fascism.
These acts in Estonia are linked with the anticommunist hysteria being spread all over
Europe, like the destruction of the George Dimitrov mausoleum in Bulgaria and the Soviet
Army's monument in Czechoslovakia and also forbidding the Czech Communist Youth Union
activities. . The extreme right had appeared alike also in the Council of Europe by
condemning the ideologue of communism.
There is no future for nations who are not acquainted with the history of their own
country and who are even ready to destroy their own cultural monuments..
