KEROSENE N.7 - THE LIVING AND THE DEAD
They are around us, in our homes, in our lives. They're ghosts, lost souls,
some passed away and others not, united by the same detachment from life.
Yet, beneath the real dead, we find the living dead: catatonic,
unrecognizable persons, sleepwalkers.
Only pale memories of what they were.
Death perhaps is not definitive, maybe it's only a passage that leads
elsewhere. And "where?" is the most asked question.
We can also laugh and make fun of death, like Disney's dancing little
skeletons or Tim Burton's dark fairy-tales; maybe lightness can be the key
of our thoughts.
Life, death, what goes and what stays...
Kerosene invites to contribution for this theme, so used in the "mainstream"
comics culture but also spring of innumerable other personal
interpretations.
We will accept variations on the theme and every graphic and narrative
style. We will not accept mainstream genre works, like horror or
science-fiction stories.
Stories shouldn't be longer than 6 panels, in either case contact us first.

From the introduction:
"Never mind that sex makes the Infant Jesus cry, just think what happens if
you like to represent it. If you¹re a woman. By the other side, if you¹re a
man sex must not be a problem. In other words: sex is a battlefield for
competition. And if you don¹t feel competitive, well, give up: you¹re a
faggot.
Never mind that love is appreciated by the entire humanity, just think what
happens if you like to openly transmit it. If you¹re a woman. By the other
side if you¹re a man love is a problem. In other words: it makes you a
sissy. And if you don¹t refuse it, well, give up:
a real man doesn¹t cry.
We just had fun thinking about a comic anthology in which female artists
presented sexually explicit comics, doing justice to two common thinkings:
that porn is only a business thing (here unfortunately nobody gains any
money) and that women don¹t like it, prefering flowers and chubby babies. At
the same time we have also convinced male artists to work on another kind of
porn, the sentimental one, the only thing that in the male world seems
really obscene.
So we worked on this idea with no pretences, unless one: try to pursue, as
artists and as persons, freedom of expression and the search for happiness
and wonderness."
