ETNO (EUROPEAN PUBLIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORK OPERATORS ASSOCIATION)
Telecommunications operators have expressed their concerns over plans by
DG XV to draft a new regulation regarding copyright. ETNO has insisted
that the Commission recognise that for technical reasons the creation of
temporary copies is essential when works are transmitted across a
digital
network such as the Internet and has called for limitations of the
rights
of reproduction and communication to the public. ETNO is also concerned
that the Commission address the issue of liability for copyright
infringements because of the threat represented by the different
national
laws to the smooth development of the Single Market.
