Dear list members,
The unit at the European Commission which currently manages the Libraries
Programme (DGXIII/E4) has recently been given the responsibility of
preparing a Green Paper on the Role of Libraries in the Information
Society. Many issues will be adressed, e.g. the legal, technical,
economic and policy issues which can enhance or inhibit access via
libraries. A preliminary draft for consultation will be completed by the
end of April 1997. More details on the background and proposed strategy
