The new opera house contains all necessary facilities for both rehearsing and performing opera and ballet. The entrance hall and lobby form a series of glass wall modules with a direct view over Töölönlahti bay and Hesperia Park. The lobby can be used separately for exhibitions, concerts and other public functions.

The warm coloured wooden surfaces of the auditorium create an intimacy which brings the audience close to the performers. The auditorium layout and acoustics of the studio theatre called Alminsali, can also be adjusted to provide for small-scale experimental performances which would be impossible to arrange on the main stage.
