The sauna was built near the boat harbor of the island of Innukka, on the same spot where an old log smoke sauna had burned down.

The new building borrows its shape from the shoreline: it consists of two narrow log frames, a sauna and a traditional combined kitchen-living room. The buildings have been elongated on the island side with board-surfaced sheds which house the unheated utility areas. The log voids were sealed with tar-impregnated hemp. After the soil was free from frost, the foundations were poured, and logs were transported to their locations. The entire building was completed in time for Midsummer.

The architect took part in the construction, and the carpenter in the design process. Design of the unfussy details took place mainly during the construction process.
