The client wanted an ecological house for a natural life-style, utilising lightly processed natural materials, and a building envelope that could breath. The external surfaces were minimized by using a cube form, with the walls cladded with tarred boards, and insulated by blown recycled paper. The wooden box form was enhanced with plywood interior surfaces and visible beams and pillars of solid wood. The radiant floor heating system is based on a heat pump connected to the bottom of the lake, and augmented by heat-storing fireplaces.
