The building site of the Forest Museum and Information Centre lies in the naturally beautiful national landscape of Punkaharju ridge.

The building is situated far from the wooded shoreline and is only partially protected by the forest. The building mass and its functions are divided into two parts. The exhibition areas and other general premises and the administrative area are situated in the circular part which dominates the whole. The rectangular part houses the different working and research areas and the storehouse. The building materials of Lusto are wood and concrete.
