As well as being Finland´s longest bridge, Raippaluoto bridge also has the longest spans of any bridge in the country. The openings of the deck of the unique diagonal cable stay bridge were designed to be thin in order to control aerodynamic behaviour. The deck structure was tested with a scale model by performing a wind tunnel test.

The most outstanding feature of the bridge is the smooth transformation from an ordinary girder structure into a low deck structure supported by cables. The superstructure of the bridge is unbroken. The total length of the bridge is 1045 metres. Pylon height above the sea level is 82 metres. The clearance height of the bridge is 26 metres.
