The new passenger pavillion at Rovaniemi airport is a simple box, minimizing the restricting effect of fixed internal structures. The restaurant level built on the slope of the hill is of concrete, while both the bearing structures and the envelope of the pavillion proper are of steel.

The building is connected to the immediate surroundings and the general shapes of the landscape by a 180-metre arched canopy. The arched roads and parking areas also follow the terraced rough-cut granite surface of the hillside.
