The town of Al Jufrah is situated in an oasis area ca 300 kilometres south of the Mediterranean coast. The administrative centre borders the desert, the old town, and a palm grove. The group of buildings creates a compact whole, placed in a wall-like manner that surround the central square to create a shady pedestrian passage.

The administrative centre consists of a congress centre, two main buildings, and fourteen office buildings of different sizes. The main parts of the congress centre are a round meeting hall and a cube shaped library. The plan is a synthesis of modern architecture and local tradition, the most important building themes being white free form masses , wall-like facades with liberally distributed openings, arcade passages, intimate inner courtyards, and lattice-filtered natural light.
