The official residence of Mäntyniemi consists of four functional units: the private residence of the President, the official residence, the office wing, and the staff quarters. The building faces the sea, with walls mainly of glass, and several terraces. The official entrance side is solid, clad with red granite from Viitasaari quarries. The winding building follows the forms of the indigeneous rock formations and local vegetation.
