The beautiful, wooden site for the Embassy is located on the southern seashore of the Kuusisaari island. Framed views of the inlets and islands open from inside the building through the bay-like yards over the surrounding scenery. The spacious buildings, the office and residence, are divided into wings; as smaller units they blend naturally with the original scale of the villas on the island.

The free-standing slab columns of the entrance terrace frame the scenery and unite the group of buildings representing the best of German natural stone work. Besides the outdoor areas, the internal scheme also draws on boh Finnish and German tradition. The reception rooms consist of a chain of rooms of varying heights which can be opened to provide access to one another.
