The Finnish Embassy is located on Massachusetts Avenue, a traditional and respected area. The small site is on a steep wooded hillside. The embassy holds office and meeting facilities for ca 50 employees, including a small library and a multipurpose area for receptions and concerts called 'Finland Hall'. The deep-framed building is longitudinally divided by a skylighted 'grand canyon', complete with steel-framed bridges, staircases and ramps. The entry and steep hillside facade are mainly glazed with oxidized copper and brass surfaces, while the gable facades are of moss green granite.
