The new building of the fourth phase of Tampere University of Technology is situated in the corner of the central campus in the immediate proximity of existing buildings.
As the new building was to be linked to the central square both visually and functionally, the main spaces were arranged in the square corner and terraced on the slope. The solution created a stair motif which dominates the corner and leads to the auditoriums. The mass is divided into five independent functional units, linked by steel-structured glass corridors. The use of concrete, aluminium and steel unites the new building to the older buildings of the area.
